Use the assistant: plan, preview, confirm, undo, and what it withholds

Ask the assistant for a change in plain words; it prepares a plan you check line by line, runs it only when you confirm, and lets you undo it for 24 hours. The assistant is a pilot, on Pro and above.

Who can do thisAnyone the assistant is switched on for. Each step needs the same permission you would need to do it yourself; an owner sets who may use it under Settings › AI assistant.

Before you start

  • The assistant is in pilot on Pro and above, and we switch it on for your workspace with you. If it isn't on for you, it says so.
  • It needs an AI provider: ours, or your own key from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google or xAI, added by an owner under Settings › AI provider.

Steps

  1. Step 1: Open the assistant and ask

Open the assistant from its button, or press Ctrl+/ (⌘/ on a Mac). The panel is headed GrowthPPL Assistant. Ask a question, or tell it what to change; you can attach a roster (CSV, Excel or OpenDocument), an offer letter or a joining form, or paste a table.

For a change, it prepares a plan instead of acting. If something is unclear, the plan says One thing to check before this can run and waits for your answer.

Described in words: this step's screenshot isn't on the site yet, and we won't show a mock-up in its place.

  2. Step 2: Check the plan line by line

The plan card lists every change it would make and is marked Waiting for you. Plans you have open are under the Plans tab.

Before a plan is shown, each step is checked: the action must exist, you must hold its permission, and every value must have a source. A plan expires after a day; ask again and it is rebuilt from today's records.

  3. Step 3: Confirm, or cancel

Choose Confirm (the button names how many changes) or Cancel plan. Nothing changes until you confirm. Each step runs as you, with your permissions, through the same action the screen uses.

A plan that changes access, pay, leave or someone's employment, or touches many people, asks you to type CONFIRM and the number of people first. If anything changed since you read the plan, it shows the new preview and asks you to confirm again.

  4. Step 4: Undo it for up to 24 hours

After a plan runs, Undo plan puts its changes back for 24 hours. Anything someone edited since is kept, and the result says how many were undone and how many were kept.

  5. Step 5: Know what it never does, and what it withholds

Running, approving or paying payroll, sending an offer or a message, and deleting anything are never done by the assistant; it can open the screen for you. An offer it prepares is only saved as a draft.

ID numbers, bank details and salaries from your records are never sent to the AI provider, and nor are the cells of an attached sheet: it sees the column headers and a few masked samples. An ID number typed into the chat is taken out before anything reads it. What the assistant sends to the AI, in the panel, lists the rest.

What to check

  • The plan's status reads Done after it runs, or Undone after an undo.
  • Each change shows in the screen it belongs to, made under your name.
  • An owner can review the assistant's settings, including who may use it, under Settings › AI assistant.
